According to the Patient Data Act, licensed psychologists and psychotherapists are required to keep medical records. Because all of the therapists affiliated with Ahum are of these two professions,, it means that all our therapists keep medical records. The main purpose is for your care and treatment to be as good and safe as possible.

Who can read my medical record?

An assessment is always made by the therapist before a medical record is handed out. After that, you always have the right to read your own medical record.

There are several ways to read your medical record:

  • All therapists affiliated with Ahum are private practitioners. They can choose which medical record system they use. If you are going through or have undergone treatment with a therapist at Ahum, contact your therapist to access your medical record.

  • If you have received care through your region, you can, in most cases, read your medical record by logging in to 1177 with e-identification or bankID.

In most cases, your medical record may only be read by people involved in your care, as well as by you. However, some authorities have the right to inspect your medical record in certain circumstances, for example in case of suspicion that your child is being harmed or if you are suspected of a serious crime.

Medical records written in Ahum are only accessible to the therapist who wrote the record. Your employer, your insurance company or other instances have no access to your medical record. However, you can request your medical record in certain circumstances, if, for example, your insurance company needs documentation.

If you have received care via your region, other care units can access your medical record, but only with your consent.

For how long is my medical record kept?

Records from private care providers are kept for at least 10 years after the last note, after which they may be destroyed.
